We celebrate Prof. Gordon Adomdza (PH.D) as our Board Member of the week. Dr. Adomdza is an Associate Professor in the Business Administration Department at Ashesi University. He holds a number of memberships and affiliations across different fields in his career. He is a Board Member of Social Enterprise Ghana, the lead of the Ashesi Design lab, Ashesi Entrepreneurship Center and the Faculty Advisor under the Ashesi Venture Accelerator. He holds memberships in the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Harvard Business Review Advisory Council, Academy of Management and the Social Enterprise Institute to name a few.
His research interests are at the intersection of social psychology and entrepreneurship in the development and pursuit of new venture ideas. He studies the individual-opportunity nexus in the process of entrepreneurial opportunity identification and validation – essentially how entrepreneurs come up with ideas and pursue them. Knowledge brokering refers to how ideas are captured, kept alive and used to identify yet new ideas –a process that lends itself very well to the design thinking methodology. Many corporations generate terabytes of data every day but do not have a system of processing this information to generate new ideas. Dr. Adomdza’s goal is to understand how firms build and sustain innovation capabilities.
